Ink & Wonder Book Club Review – Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Welcome to Ketterdam: where the streets are ruthless, the deals are deadly, and the heists are legendary.
I never promise my book reviews won’t have spoilers. I can’t be trusted not to spill the tea, especially when the tea is piping hot. As such, proceed at your own risk. 😉
You know that feeling when a book completely consumes you? When you’re so deep in the world, you can smell the streets of Ketterdam, feel the tension in the air, and hear Kaz Brekker flipping a coin between his fingers as he calculates his next move? That was Six of Crows for me.
This book is everything I love in a story. A high-stakes heist, an unpredictable plot, and a cast of morally gray, ride-or-die characters who own my soul. Kaz, Inej, Jesper, Wylan, Nina, Matthias—every single one of them felt like a fully realized person with their own demons, goals, and loyalties. I loved how the backstories were woven seamlessly into the action instead of dumped on us all at once. It made every reveal hit so much harder.
And can we talk about the Ice Court heist?! Nothing about it felt predictable or easy, which kept me glued to the pages. Every twist, every setback, every oh no, what now moment had me stressed in the best way. The tension? Immaculate. The pacing? Flawless. The banter? Elite.
Now that I’ve survived this rollercoaster of a book, I need to dive into Crooked Kingdom immediately. Because if there’s one thing I know about Kaz and his crew, it’s that their story is far from over.
What to read next:
Crooked Kingdom - Book 2 to complete this duology.
Shadow and Bone - (Technically, this series should be read first. oops.)
A Tempest of Tea - by Hafsah Faizal (similar ragtag crew and daring heist vibes.)

So, tell me—who’s your favorite crow? And did anyone else feel like they lived in Ketterdam for the entire book? Because same.
💛 M
